I am going to add a security camera system to my home, but I am struggling with the what/how do this. The easy route is to go some sort of wire-free system where running cables is a non-issue. But then I have battery life issues and apparently they aren't that great at motion detection and don't pre-record. So I would PREFER a wired system (ideally POE) but I don't know how I would deal with the front of the house. Other areas aren't bad... but I want a camera watching over the front door which is in the middle of the front of the house, surrounded by brick! How would you do this? Sorry for the bad pic, it was actually off of a video I was doing of a drone flight.
The main front door is in the middle, and driveway is on the left side of the house. The sidewalk goes from the driveway and ends at the door. So people would naturally walk across the front of the house left to right. Of course... anyone could walk through the grass from the right. I just don't know 1) where I should place the camera and 2) how I would run the wiring. I could put it on the right corner which would make running a conduit to the camera acceptable since that right side of the house is not visible to anyone... and that's where our AC/electrical box/cable box, etc all comes in. Is that too far away to be of any value?
I'm not sure what else to ask, so any input would be appreciated.
