Are you referencing this article if so HT1100 is a Ka-Band modem not a satellite box. The article referenced the DP 40 and one without the DP from Dish Network. The modulator does not have to be expensive a simple one with a few db gain will assist on getting the signal through. If you have the model numbers of the recorder, diplexer etc. and can also get me a makeshift diagram on how you have it connected I may be of assistance.
