For the periodic beep = Check in Main Menu under 'Event' - there are different alarms set up there for various conditions. (Network Alarm for IP conflict/Tampering alarm for cameras = if a cam is moving in strong wind, this alarm might trigger / Disk alarms / etc.
Try looking in the Logs to see if you can find a reference to what might be triggering.
For the Time issue = PST is GMT -8 not +8 (that is China or Korea) That is why the DVR/NVR is jumping ahead a half day. If you use the NTP service make sure you also set DST (Daylight Saving Time)
If you are using 8MP cameras - the max playback you will get is 2x on the DVR/NVR. Playback on the SmartPSS software may go a little smoother, but don't expect too much with an 8MP camera - there is just too much data to play back at accelerated speeds.
The calendar control has always been that way - you have to stop playback to choose a different day.
If you want to check for an update = we'll need the exact model number of the DVR/NVR, and the 'Software version' and 'build date' in Main menu> System (under the 'Info' row) > Version (on the left side menu)
To get a firmware upgrade - you'll need to open a chat with a live operator, we don't post firmware upgrades. (Too much probability of getting the wrong one, and 'bricking' the DVR/NVR. A live operator can verify your order and model number to avoid that happening.)
